I am getting Poor reception
The tuners are sensitive to low signals. This also means that we are sensitve to other signals in the same frequency. This is known as noise. If you are
suffering from poor DTT performance, please try these tips:
Is the aerial plugged directly in to the 3view box or is it looped through another device? Please plug it in directly.
Is the box plugged in to a wall socket? If so, the QUALITY of the 'fly lead' is very important. Can you change that for another one and perform a 'keep and scan'?
Is the cable that runs from the aerial brown, or black? Brown cables are old, poor screen and are problematic.
is the aerial in the loft or on the roof? The loft is often problematic.
is it possible to remove any other device attached to the ariel as a temporary test, including any splitters, so you can test the aerial / hardware combination in its simplest form ?
How many connections are there between the aerial and the set top box?
How do I format and re-install?
Please reboot the box but with the power button pressed in. When you see the 3view splash screen you can let go.
Shortly, you should see a menu of options. please choose FORMAT.
once complete, please choose network upgrade. Choose the upgrade with the highest number xxxxxx
Leave this to run, and your box will be operational again.
I get an error type 2 when I try to register
Quite a few boxes were dispatched without getting entered correctly in to the database. If you can send the serial number to
support@3view.com we’ll
check that for you:
Settings> system> system info > chip number (8 digits)
My video/music files won’t play.
We have a site here:
upload.3view.com (username admin) (password video1) If you could upload a small example file,
I will get it analyzed. Please name the file with your name so we can respond to you.
Why can’t I export recordings to a file?
Despite ofcom's objections, from Sept 1st, The UK broadcasters decided to encrypt the EPG data, to make sure that only PVRs that actively prevent the user from
exporting or archiving his HD recordings will be able to receive it unscrambled.
I cant register because I cant see a @ symbol

I am scanning smaller number than expected channels.
The aerial lead between the wall socket and the 3view box is critical. The
example shows
a good quality double shielded cable (RG6U is the generic cable type but check for quality
shielding when purchasing. As a rule-of -thumb look for the wording "Digital TV" on the packet.).
The lower one shows a poor quality cable which only allowed 81 channels to be received. The upper
cable tuned 112 on the same set up. 3view tuners are as sensitive as possible but that has
the effect of sometimes picking up undesirable signals. Using a quality cable is advised for
best performance.

Can I receive Digital Surround sound from HD broadcasts?
The format for transmission of surround sound, is (controversially) HAAC. This is not recognised by hardly any home theatre amps at this moment in time.
We plan to transcode the HAAC audio in to dolby 5.1 in realtime. This feature is not yet deployed. more:
